Welcome to Cosmotions - time-lapse videos of the cosmos in motion. This web site is the new location for the old domain (Cosmotions.com). The GIF's and videos shown here offer unique time-lapse motion photography of scenes and events, most of which were captured within the nocturnal realm between sunset and sunrise. This content exists to inspire a sense of wonder about the celestial workings of our little corner of the universe, and the relationship between our home planet and the cosmos beyond.
The animated GIF's and SWF videos that play on this website each represent up to several hours of contiguous live image capture using off-the-shelf DSLR cameras/lenses mounted on either fixed tripods or motorized celestial tracking systems. These are scenes of the actual cosmos - in time-lapse motion - captured from a variety of locations in the American southwest since 2003.
